The Hong Kong Institute of Education HSBC Early Childhood Learning Centre

October 21, 2009 Leave a comment

Yeasterday we visited one preschool here in Hong Kong and it´s an early childhood learning centre here on the campus area where the institute is. Their vision at the early childhood learning centre is to optimizing each child´s potential through the shared joy of teaching and learning. The centre is coopering with the parents in let the parents be a part of their activities. The preschool is for children in the ages one to six years old and each child has their own portfolio. One thing that we were surprised of was that they had an observation room in every division with possibility to record the children’s daily routines and a possibility for the children’s parents to observe their children two times a year.

Hong Kong Institute of Education…

October 20, 2009 Leave a comment

Our first visit to the Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd) was pretty breathtaking, not only that we stepped outside the taxicabs AC, but the location of the HKIEd was amazing. Placed up on a mountainside you could look out and see a valley, more mountains and some of the water in Tolo Harbour.

You couldn’t believe that we were in Hong Kong, one of the most populated cities in the world – except that we saw some Asian students, and during the lunch brake we also meet some Swedish students from Skåne that we stumbled over. We had our lunch in the Campus Cafeteria, not anything like our Götasalen in Skövde. We were served at the table and it was a good meal with a good price.

A guided tour round campus, the library, the museum of education and the art gallery with our very special and great guide, Anna, ended back on a taxicab.
